Installation & version details
Open the DMG and drag LanSender into Applications. Quit the old app before updating. If your previous conversations do not appear, choose “Import previous Mac data” at first launch or in Settings → About. The original data is kept; avoid running both versions at once.
Updates for the direct-download version must be downloaded manually.
One download automatically runs the right version for your Mac. No need to choose a chip.
The Mac App Store version is not yet available. You can download the Mac version here now.

Share beyond your Mac
Find nearby devices running compatible LanSender versions and exchange messages, files and folders.
Choose what to receive
Review incoming file requests in the app, then check the completed files on the receiving device.
System requirements
- macOS 12 or later, on Intel or Apple silicon.
- Both devices need a reachable local network; Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet can be used when the network connects them.
- Allow local network access if macOS asks. Keep the app running and your Mac awake during a transfer.
Install and get started
- Open the DMG from the website download, then drag LanSender into Applications.
- Open LanSender from Applications and allow local network access when prompted. Open the compatible app on the other device.
- To update the website edition, quit LanSender, download the new DMG and replace the app in Applications. This edition does not download updates automatically.
Keep LanSender open on both devices, on a local network that allows them to connect. The recipient chooses whether to accept incoming files.

Should I choose Intel or Apple silicon?
You do not need to choose: the website download is a Universal app for both. Check the macOS requirement before downloading.
How do website and App Store versions differ?
Install the website edition from a DMG and replace the app with a newer copy to update it. Once released, the App Store edition can be installed and updated through the store. Both can connect to LanSender on other devices.
