XP no longer receives operating system security updates. Use it on a trusted, controlled local network. App encryption cannot fix operating system vulnerabilities.

Keep older PCs useful
The dedicated XP version gives an older computer a way to exchange files with compatible LanSender clients on your network.
Files with their context
Send text alongside files and folders, and follow transfer progress in the conversation.
System requirements
- Intel / AMD: Windows 7 RTM, 8, 8.1, 10 or 11. The x86 app also runs on x64 through WOW64.
- ARM64: Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 on an ARM64 PC. Windows XP uses the separate 32-bit x86 app.
- Use a network that permits direct device connections. Allow LanSender through the firewall on the network you intend to use.
Install and get started
- Choose Intel / AMD, ARM64 or XP according to your Windows system and processor.
- Save the EXE and double-click it. Open LanSender on the other device, then choose it from the nearby-device list.
- For an update, quit LanSender and replace the executable. Keep the existing app data folder to preserve messages and settings.
Keep LanSender open on both devices, on a local network that allows them to connect. The recipient chooses whether to accept incoming files.
Platform questions
Which version does a 64-bit Intel or AMD PC need?
Choose the Intel / AMD download. Its 32-bit executable runs on both 32-bit Windows and 64-bit Windows with WOW64. ARM64 is for ARM processors.
Does encryption make Windows XP safe?
No. XP no longer receives operating system security updates. Use it only on a trusted, controlled local network; application encryption cannot repair operating system vulnerabilities.
